Good News: We now have an air conditioner, a Danby Silhouette.
Bad News: We had to unpack and install it. I HATE doing that kind of thing -- it always sets my nerves on edge to take apart my environment and try to figure out which screw goes into which slot. Especially when I'm working with $600+ worth of machinery.
Further Bad News: We can't have too much on in the studio at one time or it blows the breakers.
Still Further Bad News: The damned thing leaks out the bottom. All over the carpet. Well, at least it's CLEAN water from the dehumidifier. We have a pan under it right now and a call into a local service center. They'll come out Monday. Feck.
Irritating News: The place now officially looks like a bomb hit it.
Good News: My period finally came!
Bad News: My period finally came. Cramps, nausea, headache, the whole nine yards. That, and my mood has only improved slightly: I'm spending about half my time able to cope/somewhat hopeful that things aren't all that bad, and the other half trembling and convinced that the sky is crashing down. Sigh.
Unadulterated Good News: When we went to London Drugs to get the air conditioner, we also picked up a Black & Decker Thermal Select Plus coffeemaker. George's sister out in Selkirk has one, which is what keyed us to it in the first place: the brew-through carafe keeps coffee hot for up to 4 hours, a real plus in an artists' studio, and it makes 8 cups of excellent coffee.
Possibly Bad News: The scanner George and I bought on eBay a couple of weeks ago has still not been shipped from California. We've been trying to wrangle this out with the seller, but UPS has been a real bitch about it. The seller, losing patience, gave us three options: go with the US Postal Service 3-5 day delivery and wire him the difference, cancel the transaction with mutual positive feedback, or cancel the transaction with mutually no feedback. I wrote him back two days ago, stating that we'd like to go with one of the other options on his original invoice (USPS 4-10 day service) and are ready to wire him the difference. Still haven't heard back from him.
Frustrating News: I can't seem to go five minutes without spilling or breaking something. Just now it was a cup of coffee, all over my earbud headphones...
