Boy, was it cold out last night! I got out to pay those bills I mentioned and do a little grocery shopping, taking the bus both ways. Unfortunately the bus times were royally screwed up, and although I timed my arrival at the homeward bus stop so that I'd only have to wait a few minutes, I ended up waiting almost twenty minutes -- on a night so frigid that my face felt like a frozen mask within a minute of stepping outside. By the time I got home the chill was deeply embedded that it took a hot bath to bring me back up to room temperature again.

George was digging through some boxes from the living room closet in search of a Rapidograph cartridge and came across a large cache of action figures and plastic miniatures (can't recall the correct name for them)... including a whole bunch of ReBoot figures. The largest is about 2 1/2" tall, and I now have an array of them lined up across the top of the iMac. From left to right, they are: Bob, Frisket, Megabyte, Hexidecimal, Enzo, and a cute little red rocket that has nothing to do with ReBoot but is way cool anyway.

We also found several CDs and cassettes that we'd forgotten we had, as well as enough dust to set off my sinuses. Oh, and a cache of Stephen King books, which I promptly hauled off to the bedroom. I spent an hour in bed last night reacquainting myself with Needful Things. Stephen King's writing fits my brain like a well-worn shoe, and I always find him both intriguing and soothing (an odd combination).

This morning my alarm did not go off. I slept until 2 pm, which impacts my MM work like whoa, but obviously my body needed those 14 hours of sleep: I have more energy today than I've had in the last few days, and the cold that's been hovering around the edges of my health seems to be fully gone.

Waiting in my email was a link to a new LiveJournal community, [livejournal.com profile] lolscience. LOLcats meets science, and boy is it a hoot. Highly recommended.
